Learning Geophysics by Doing Geophysics

SAGE 2021 has yet to be determined - STAY TUNED

SAGE 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic

The health and safety of our students and faculty are our highest priorities. With the growing number of travel restrictions for both academia and industry, and the spread of COVID-19 both internationally and in the United States, we have determined that we could not in good conscience hold a field program.

Modern Exploration Techniques

SAGE participants acquire, process, and interpret geophysical data at different scales using the following methods:

  • Reflection/refraction and passive seismic
  • Magnetotellurics and time-domain electromagnetics
  • Ground-penetrating radar
  • Temperature logging and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS)
  • Gravity and magnetics
